Ro/di setup outside okay?

I have my making and mixing station outside and was wondering if that could be a problem because of bugs or not enough airation?

I have a 37g brute container with lid for my ro/di top off. If it is the first time I open it in a few days it has a bad smell... Is that normal with a sealed lid. Also would it not be good if a bug layed eggs in the water?

Also I do my salt mixing in a 37g brute container w/ mag 5 was just making sure it was okay with a tight lid. I remember hearing it needed a air while mixing for gas exchange? Just wondering

Thanks

-Matthew

smell is normal in those brute containers, I've never had a problem doing it outside except when I do water changes I have to bring the temp down, I use two frozen 2liter soda bottles and just float them with a circulation pump.
if your prefilter canisters are clear (see-thru) Get a HD lawn garbage bag and cover the them so that the sun don't hit them and form algae inside.

Rogger, do you mean the filters (stages) on the RO/DI? Excellent tip with the frozen 2-liters.

Yes, the .5 micron, carbon and DI sometimes are clear canisters, you can easily place a Black plastic back to eliminate sunlight.

Thanks for all the help.

I have the brute container with the wheels so after mixing I put it in the house for a few hours to the same temp.

What pump do you use for mixing in the brute? Should I get a cheapy powerhead or a something beefier? I guess it would hurt to have a backup in case my skimmer or return breaks at midnight, right?
