Did you check that the fixture worked before you left?

The trick with the aqua medic fixtures is to put equal force on both ends of the bulb as you install it. A little vaseline on the metal contact of the bulb will make it easier.
Be careful, you can bend the contacts if you push too hard.
Do you hear the ballast fire up?

I can't really help you online like this. If the contact is bad you can get replacement contacts from Aqua Cave and it may be a chore but can be replaced.
I'd see if someone close has a similar fixture, bulb replacement can be tricky .

The contact can be replaced, you can get a replacement contact at Aquacave.com. If you don't see it, call or email Albert, he can get them if he doesn't have any in stock.
The question is does it need to be replaced, I don't know. I would have someone check out the fixture first to see.

Where are you located? I might be able to help if I could see the unit.

I've never replaced one, thought I was going to have too but I was able to straighten mine out. I'd think it would have directions and it can't be that hard to do, you shouldn't have trouble.
