chaeto giveaway!

I've seen references to chaeto several times, but I don't know what its for.... Do you mind explaining. Sorry for so many questions.

Don't worry Brad, no bother, I love to babble.

Chaetomorpha Macro Algae. Chaeto, pronounced "kay-toe", is often used in refugiums to use up the phosphates and nitrates before nuisance algae. It is grown under lights in your sump or refugium. If it's light period is opposite of your tank it helps to keep the pH more stable, (by the uptake of acid-forming CO2 by the chaeto during its light period.)

thanks Serra, I have seen references to Macro Algae and Chaeto, but didn't know they were the same.

I have plans for a sump room (at least in my mind), so when that happens I'll add Chaeto for sure.

There are all different kinds of macro algae, Chaeto is just one of them.
