QT question on water change?

i wanted tot know its my second day that my fish are in the qt tank 10 gal and are being treated with cupramine...i wanted to know do i have to do water changes in the qt tank and if so isn't the cupramine gonna go lower since im removing water and adding new water??

YES! You have to change the water. If you dont the ammonia level will skyrocket and kill your fish before whatever the reason the fish are in QT for kills them.

You're gonna need a cupramine test kit and test very frequently to keep the levels where they need to be.

And lastly, read the threads at the top of this forum, there is instructions how to quarantine, how to dose with cupramine, etc., etc...

I would recomend you keeping an inexpensive ammonia alert badge in your tank. When the ammonia starts to rise then it is time to make a water change. Utilizing Prime or other ammonia reducing product will also help maintain water quality - just make sure you don't overdose as too much can have an adverse impact when used with Cupramine.

When running a QT it is a good idea to make up a large batch of replacement water - this makes it easy to make small water changes as necessary to maintain water quality.

Each time you make a water change you "dilute" the copper concentration and will need to adjust the level. Having a copper test kit is essential - make sure your test kit will accurately read cupramine copper - some don't.
