Yellow tang vs copperband butterfly

Hi.

I just got a copperband butterfly today, my yellow tang which has been very peaceful to other fish in the tank, althhough he attacks me if i dare to stick my hand in the tank , any way he attacks the copperband alot and does not leave him alone, is he just establishing dominance or will he hurt him or even kill him?

he will likely try to kill him as yellow tangs are extremely aggressive. mine killed my dwarf angel before my other dwarf angel got the chance to do it

I would try to close the light in your tank so that every fish finds his home to rest. Keep the light close for a while today and check and see tomorrow. A 95g is a good size for those two. I would wait a bit and see.

I tried to add a cbb with my established sailfin tang. It harrased the butterfly really badly and the butterfly never thrived. I ended up getting rid of it.

Good advice.

We have a purple tang who's really aggressive towards newcomers and we've found something that works, too. We tape a flat mirror on the glass when we introduce a new fish, and the tang spends all his time trying to fight with the "new tang" and generally ignores the new fish!

Do you think this will work with a six line as well as tangs?

You could try fitting a mirror before you add a new fish and see...

My 2 tangs are agressive but didnt bother my copperband when i added him. On the other hand i added a foxface and they harrased him to the point i had to pull him. Got stung by foxface in the process. OUCH
