Worm id

I just pulled this guy out of my tank. This thing will give me nightmares! I havent added new rock for over 2 years, the tank has been moved twice and I have never seen it. I would guess he was stretched out over 2 feet. In the cup he looks like he is about 14 inches long and a little thinner than a pencil at his thickest point. Is this just a huge bristle worm? Is it reef safe? Even if it is I dont think I want to put it back in. The picture is in my gallery. I dont know how to put it in the post. Thanks
