gate valve mod

Is it possible to use a ball valve instead of the actual gate valve on a skimmer? I would think that they are going to do the same things regardless. Maybe I am wrong.

You can but most PVC ball valves are pretty pitiful and you probably will not be able to make fine adjustments. Just get the gate valve and be done with it.

Your local OSH carries gate valves. Ball valves are very hard to adjust, whereas the gate valves they take very little effort to adjust.

I was kind of figuring that was the case but was wondering if it could work. I will pick up a gate valve then.
