Pygmy angel pairs.

Is it possible to have a pair of cherub angels? I went to a guys house yesterday and he had a single one, I mentioned I wanted a pair of these guys and he said I couldn't? So can I have a pair? How do I pair them up? Thanks

I had a pair. Just introduced two different size individuals at the same time. No fighting. They have since spawned in their current owner's tank.

Things don't always work out, so make sure you have a backup plan in case one starts killing the other.

I can borrow a trap. I know they don't work all the time but better than nothing. Hopefully all goes well.

Or two very small, so they're both still females. One will become a male. Worked a few times for me with other centropyge - I paired mine in a 20 gallon QT.

I was wondering if you could pair them like clownfish, both small. I guess I can, thanks Wayne.

assuming i get a very small pair of angels. is 1 inch "small" for cherubs?

I've read that pygmy's are a little aggressive to other fish. I haven't had any first hand experience with any pygmy angels except for a CB and it was well behaved.

i think it would work fine to put cherubs with my clownfish, as my clownfish are a little agressive too. they tore up my Australian solar wrasse after behaving together for 6 months. but i sold the wrasse and am downgrading the tank.

Down grading? What size do you have now? Your sig says upgrading to a 20L?

In a 20? Only if both were very small babies. Remeber, the all C. argi complex angels ( Cherubs & kin) are VERY aggressive. The smaller the tank, the worse it is. This also goes for the other fish in your tank. I have a single Cherub in my 36 gallon reef & its picking a bit at my damsel. So far it leaves my psychotic False perc alone ( see that other thread with my handle on it for that story!!). I wouldn't chance it..

Sincerely,
Matthew

Luis,

If you end up having to get rid of one, I'll take it as long as it hasn't bothered your clam/corals

----Yikes. no.....Please don't do this. It won't work. One, if not both will die soon. They need a LOT more space than 20G, even if they were the only fish. I wouldn't do a pair in less than 60G.

If you try pairing with two small fish, you will have more fighting. Be aware of their adult size, so when I say small, you need to get them SMALL (<1"). They are aggressive little buggers. I doubt you would end up being able to keep anyhting else long term with them in a 20g tank. Maybe a pseudochromis at best?
