Hair Algae on Sand
What is the best way to get hair algae off of the sand?
I am starting to get the algae under control ( the tank is 1 month old). I pulled out what I could but could not get it all off the substrate where it continues to grow. Thanks for your help. |

What do you have in the way of snails to help eat it?
Best way to deal with algae, no matter where it is, is to get nutrient issues under control. Eliminate phosphate, and your algae will go away on its own.

Your tank is still very young. The hair algae will eventually cycle out.

I have the same problem after 5 weeks, mine is not exactly hairy, it's comes off in paper thin sheets when I scrape the glass. The sand looks like this http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/a...masTree001.jpg
