Softy and LPS corals should do just fine.

Oh and your caps lock is stuck...

There are also some SPS that do well with that amount of light. Check out the more specific forums on corals on this site :-)

For any SPS I'd recommend some Montipora species, but would primarily stick with LPS and softies.

I hope you got that stuck caps button fixed.

thanks, your imput makes me feel somewhat better. I was beginning to regret not purchasing MH. I can go with not having SPS for now.

The VHOs should be fine for most everything except really demanding SPS specimens and T. crocea clams.

Same question for me. I have a 54 Gal. corner tank with 195 watts of PC lighting. I change the bulbs every 6 months and keep them on for 11- 12 hours every day. Will LPS do ok under these lights?

Thank you,

Willyreef

I have run vho in the past and had exellent results with them. I really like the way it brings out the colors in the tank. Very pretty looking. Probably the best advice I can give you is to use excellent reflectors for the bulbs and not to rely on the internal reflectors. They can make a huge difference. Also, be sure to change the bulbs regularly.
I have used it an had excellent results with toadstool leathers, finger leathers, star polyps, mushrooms xooanthids and xenia. I had some success with sps corals as well, like montipora cap and digitata and a few acros. Just be carefull and research what you buy. You should have good results with lps as well. I wouldn't try any giant clams though, except for maybe a squamosa.
I wouldn't regret purchasing vho lighting. If you got a DIY retrofit kit you could always use it for supplemental actinic lighting with MH.
