aplysia hare ID
Calling the experts cause seaslugforum.net couldn't help me.
Here goes, I recently purchased several sea hares. In coloration/markings they look the same as Aplysia brasiliana. My largest ones are 2.5-2.75" long, they are supposed to be from Nicaragua. My problem/question is that brasiliana hares grow up to 11" long in the wild. I have seen my 2.5" hares laying eggs on my glass. Can sea hares lay eggs at this size/don't they have to be fully mature? If so, any help on ID, I couldn't find a smaller aplysia on the species list that looks like these. I will post pics if necessarry, but coloration/markings are exactly the same as brasiliana except missing the light patches on the interior wing flap area. Thanks! Morgan Mok |

I'm very surprised that Bill wasn't able to help you. When did you ask? I know Bill was away for a while.
