I use old maxijet 1200s, and have them installed directly in the sump.
If you do a permanent thing like mine, make sure that you place a hole in the arc of the tubing. In order to stop spray, I've placed a smaller tube in the hole (sealed with a glue gun). This stops any siphoning effects.
