I disagree with the dead spots being more with the Vortecs. They move so much water, the entire mass of water inside your tank will be circulating in a giant whirl pool, and fairly high velocity. Tunze's are more narrow, focused streams, whereas Vortecs are wide flow. One vortec in my 4x2x2 had the entire tank flowing wildly and at times I had to turn it down. That is a tank 2x the size of yours. Not a dead spot in it.
It is definately one of those "you have to see it to believe it" things. Once you do, you'll never go back.
