I don't really do anything, I have 250 m/h for lighting.
Mine took about a year to cover the rock and back wall.
I keep it off the sides but it seems like it will just EXPLODE from time to time and I have to clean the sides twice a week? ohters maybe once a month? Coraline likes ca. and alk. but keeping thaose in order will be plenty enough.
I know this is not the answer you were looking for (sorry) but its a start,
I'm sure someone will follow with their ideas.
