The bioballs no longer come with the skimmer and you also get a bubble blaster with it that takes care of the micro probs. Its imo the best hot skimmer out there and very user friendly. Built like a tank as well. You could run carbon and what not in one canister but don't need both. A couple powerheads and your set. For t5 light's i'd go with from front to back, blue +, aquablue, 65ge, blue +, all have great par and will be a nice color.
