My Kenya tree looks exactly like that when it is getting ready to "frag itself". It didn't do it for the first four months I had it and now it creates a new frag once or twice a week. It will bend over like that, shrivel up, and then drop a branch that will attach somewhere close by or float off and attach elsewhere.
