I don't want to hijack, but I'm in a similar situation. For all of you that use MH, how many use chillers? I am thinking about two 175 watt MH retros in my canopy or 6 T5's retro.

Lookin at my post, I should edit, There isn't cyano in the tank, only in the sump. The flow created by the powerhead got rid of the dead spot in my tank that allowed the cyano to grow.

My cyano outbreak showed up at about 3 months too. I pointed a powerhead at the spot and it went away...until I put a light in my sump for the chaeto. Now my sump has cyano but it hasn't spread back...

I also use API tests and like them for their ease...
I also use API tests and like them for their ease of use over other brands. I would add a ph and ammonia test to the tests included in that kit.
