I see a lot of pictures of superman, sunset, rainbow and pokerstar frags, but I never see big colonies. Most of the local guys I know that have successful tanks can't seem to keep these things long...

I don't think that LPS use calcium at the same...
I don't think that LPS use calcium at the same rate as fast growing SPS, but they most certainly do need to be in a tank where calcium is maintained either with two part or a calcium reactor.
