I'd say no, the 1262 is about perfect for the 180..
and you point out its its going on an oceanic 90... the 180 would be the way to go on that tank, if not just a 120.
the 120 will skim a 90 fine.

The microbubbles, will be worse for sure. as it will be like brand new, but that is temporary.

the ev180 gives 3 times the skimmate of the g3 when tuned. the g3 will still skim when the ev stops, but ev cranks out more when it is running....

there's a lot more to these than the skimmer itself settings, and pump.. orientation of where it is located, and what water is getting to it varies what it will do dramatically.
