i have a 6" sand bed,,,so far it has made my tank...

i have a 6" sand bed,,,so far it has made my tank more stable than tanks i have had in the past with 1" sand beds. you just need some sand sifting creatures

i have been getting some strange odors from my reef tank,,my lfs says to run carbon,i will do so ,but i was under the impression carbon removes some of the good stuff in the water?? I havent used...

i had one for years in a 55 with an aquaclear 500 and no skimmer,,till one day i overfed and the resulting ammonia killed it so just watch out for that :)
