electronics don't run DE's to their full potential. DE's were designed for M80's. electronics are designed to run everything, but you can't have a generic output and expect to run everything...

if you read the first page, M57 is a 175w...
if you read the first page, M57 is a 175w ballast. M80 is an HQI. so a standard 250w magnetic would be an M58.

i agree with pjpeels. i say stick with the 250's...
i agree with pjpeels. i say stick with the 250's and add actinics. the amount of heat that 400's put off is just rediculous.

M80 is a 250w ballast so you can't run a 150w DE...
M80 is a 250w ballast so you can't run a 150w DE on that. that power rating on the icecap is the operating power for the ballast. the bulb will see less than that.

that's more of the bulbs going bad and the arc not staying lit. the ballasts in them are magnetic. the local governments are not going to pay 3 times as much for electronics for street lights.
