Steve, becareful with your bulb selection, you probably have an M57 probe start ballast, so you have to stay with American/chinese bulbs. Stay away from Japanese and German bulbs, they require pulse...

IMO, Buy an electronic ballast. then you have the ability to run any bulb, and the HQI if you want to upgrade later on.

I agree, 250 would be enough light, HQI would be better. I would only recommend the 400 watt if you run the 20k bulbs only.

Don't they sell a lubricant specially made for electrical sockets? When I go to autozone, they have it by the counter. I think it even seals out the moisture.
