This is another way it can be done. I have a few tanks with pendants and I have done this and used L brackets to mount them...

I do not have a 400DE fixture but I do have a 36 in long tank. I have had, both one 250DE fixture on the tank and two. With only one fixture you are going to have shadows on the corners of the tank....
