I use GFO and carbon in mine all the time. Sometimes separate other times mixed. I also use either PURA or polyfilter as the top layer.
Only have a canister filter on my FOWLR not my reef.

My water volume is pretty close to 210... if i go by tank volume it would be 300. So basically your usage is close to where mine used to be. It would be like you suddenly needing to dose about 270ml...

Correct, I use the calculator often and the 400ml of 2part is what should raise it. Problem is that its falling faster than ever.

I do not use a sock for 2 reasons - 1) nitrates 2) I don't want to filter food/fauna from the water.
I still use one when i am doing a "blow out" and a water change to catch the stuff i stir up.
