Post some pictures hard to tell. Though if the edges are rough it is usually ok, the bulk head will cover and seal around the edge.

you could try placing a temporary patch on the inside and then use something to fill where it is separated. LockTite makes a glass sealant repair that is aquarium safe.

Look for the sunlight 6500k ones. At Lowes or HD. I've seen a 13 watt and a 26watt. Plus CFLs last for a really long time.

I get all my RO water from my LFS. I only get about 10 gallons at a time for only a little more than $2, less if I'm buying something else. :)

If there is not enough room for you to get in there to clean it there is probably not enough room for any of your clean up crew either. A good 1 1/2 inch perimeter is a good idea.
