Is there an inexpensive suction pump similar to the Tom aqualifter, but powerful enough to lift water up to like 6 ft? I'm looking for a suction pump, not something submersible.

You can have a very successful mushroom tank using PCs. But I agree with Chrisstie. Once you get started, chances are, you are going to want to try different corals. And you can do that with T5s.
