personally i use ARO eballast from hellolights,...

personally i use ARO eballast from hellolights, they are good ballast, easy to wire, with low power consumption. been using them for several years with no problems.

I have had mine for 2 years now and it's going strong, a good 1 to 2 cups of dark soopy gunk a week, I omly clean mine every 2 weeks or so, power it with a 250 to 300 gph power head and ir will work...

I have used the swing arm type, and a $30.00 refractometer, the swing arm was not very accurate, but worked ok on my fish only, after i started a reef, i had problems with my corals not opening up...
