I can't say for sure that a Madarin eats flat worms , but I never had a flat worm problem until my Mandarin died. :(

I had the same problem with my euro reef skimmer next to a mag 12 return pump. so I put a nylon filter bag on the skimmer's return pipe. That stopped the bubbles.
