I agree with the low temp. But I also wonder about other params especially Salinity, Ammonia and Nitrite. I am really thinking water params as has been mentioned.

Oh and trying to build one yourself is one heck of a PITA, IMO. If after 6 weeks it doesn't work you sort of have to start the cycle over.

I finally gave up and bought a Midwest Aquatics Sulfur DeNitrator. It cycled in three days and has had my Nitrates at near 0 (undetectable on seachem chart) for about a month. Expensive but it works...

You need to setup file sharing on your Vista Laptop. I think maybe setting up the laptop as C from your PC is not what you meant. If it is, then it would be very hard and not advisable to do that....
