I have used super glue to move polyps from one rock to another. It wonderfull stuff, I even use it at work to close up my cuts.

iamquockie 11/28/2006 09:49 PM

yea i used super glue gel alot also but this time I got the two part waterproof epoxy and wonder if it will be alright for the aquarium.

Close up your cuts?? thats a new one to me, but hey if it works, do it!

Im not to sure about epoxy though, that stuff contains some narly chemicals. and about the cuts I have had some deep ones, some Ive thought I needed stitches for. you should try it some time. it doesnt hurt either and even stays together in the shower.

Aquamend epoxy from HD works good. Just turn off your skimmer when working with it in your tank. Makes the skimmer go crazy for a while.

Yep I highly recommend Aquamend, not sure about the super glue brand epoxy.

What aisle is the aquamend on in HD?

Usually it is around the paint isle.

aquamend? is that the green/white tacky looking stuff that you have to knead yourself?

solinar 11/29/2006 11:54 PM

I use superglue gel from walmart to attach and marine depot hardening marine putty for molding. Never had any problems.

Yeah thats the stuff.

I used to use Aqua Mend because it is cheap. But, it doesn't stick so good, as a matter of fact, you can pull a frag or whatever you stuck down off, easily at any time. And it's ugly white. I came across a product called Aqua Scape, it is MUCH better, sticks great and looks just like Coraline, it is also much more efficient, you need a lot less to stick down a frag and it doesn't stick to your hands like Aquamend. I have probably bought 30 sticks of Aquamend over the past 2 years and I am on my first stick of Aqua Scape, I won't be buying Aquamend ever again! Yeah, it's more expensive, but you get what you pay for!

As far as glue, IC-Gel is the ticket, a 20gram tube that won't dry up and ooze out like Superglue Gel. Dry the frag, put on the glue and stick it where you want. Done.

Where do you get this Aqua Scape you speaketh of?

Speckled Grouper 11/30/2006 07:49 PM

Champion has it under "Epoxy and glue". It's made by the ROWA people.

iamquockie 12/02/2006 03:23 AM

champion? I used the super glue waterproof epoxy because my local club stated that most of them are reef safe. I also seen some people mention that the epoxies are the same. Nothing has died in my reef and it has been three days now. I will give you an update for sure.

This stuff works good so far, you mix it and let it harden until it gets clay like, then just bond the two dry surfaces together and it works. Only thing is like someone mentioned that its ugly white, hopefully it turns to brown or another rock like color. ;)

You mean purple, like coralline. :D

iamquockie 12/03/2006 07:49 PM

preferably corraline, if it works I may just put the epoxy everywhere!! My t5's somehow do not promote the growth of corraline except in the shade.
