Any Aquascapers around Dallas?
I'm actually in Rowlett which is NE of Dallas.
Looking for someone who is really good at aquascaping. I'm not all that pleased with my last few attempts. I have plenty of rock and corals to choose from. Willing to pay cash, live rock, live sand, corals, or whatever you can think of :-) Paul |
Hi Paul,
My rule of thumb for aquascaping is to replicate a zone that I want to recreate. Looking at pictures of real reefs is a good inspiration. I have also found through experience that corals grow into any space that you give them, so I try and anticipate the final adult size of the coral. This usually means that I use less rock than I used to. Leaving as much open sand area is also something I have tried to do by using old coral skeletons as piers and pilings under the sand to support the foundation pieces of the new reef. This allows a greater sand /rock interface which we need as much of as possible for the sandbed to process nutrients. Some of the nicest tanks I have seen use a minimum of rock and large corals that have grown into the empty space. HTH, Brad |
Brad,
Thanks for the response! When are you coming over? Paul |
