SPS Quarantine?
I just ordered in a couple different species of SPS from atlantisAquarium.net. I don't know if they have a track record for providing 'clean' corals or whatnot, but I would like to make sure I don't infect my tank with anything funky. At the same time I want to make sure I'm not killing expensive pieces by exposing them to unnecessary stresses. What procedures would you guys take to make sure that a coral is 'clean' or parasites before putting it in your tank?
My corals are due to show up Friday so I want to get ready now. Here is what I have coming: Tyree Sunset Monti ATL Super Red Millipora ATL Hypnotic blue acro Latistella Palmers Ultimate Blue Millipora I'm hoping that they will help add some color to my tank. Let me know what you think. Thanks. |
congrats, those are some very nice specimens, I keep mine in my QT tank for 10 days then inspect with a jewelers loupe, no mater who I get them from

I think an Interceptor dip at a minimum of 6 hours at = or > than 5x Dustin's recommended strength followed by a dip in TMPCC or the new TLF dip for 10 minutes at least (but less than 20 minutes) before QT will eliminate most unwanted pests. Of coure an inspection for eggs will be waranted. Then watching them over the next few weeks and dipping again before introduction should keep you fairly safe. Unfortunately these days there are no guarantees.
