Adding fish food to help cycle?

Hey,

Just wondering to make sure my tank cycles to its maximum, can I add some freshwater fish food such as big als brand food into the tank cycling with uncured live rock.

Thanks

You could add an uncooked cocktail shrimp overnight to help.Dont add any food or pls dont use a fish. If you have all your LR then just moniter th water readings and when they drop and stay hen come back and thread "cycle over now what".

Also dont use the main lights full time. Use 1 or 2 hours and add time slowly. This will help reduce algea blooms.

I agree, the best way is with an uncook shrimp tail

I'd use a small bit of fish food in preference to a chunk of shrimp. With live rock, there's no need for either, though. They won't do anything useful.

I cycled my QT effectively with a cube of frozen mysis. Unfortunately none of the mysis survived. :(
