Rich Terrell[/b]

After completing his B.S. in Marine Science and Biology at Jacksonville University, Rich Terrell obtained his M.S. in Marine Biology and Biochemistry from the University of Delaware. During college and graduate school, Rich also became increasingly interested in aquarium keeping and worked part-time in pet stores to earn beer money and support his growing fish and reptile habit.

Rich worked in the retail pet sector from 1995 to 1998 when he signed on with the Newport Aquarium, which was under construction at the time. Over four years in Kentucky Rich worked his way up to Aquatics Curator before moving to the Pittsburgh Zoo's PPG Aquarium. In his role as Aquarist at Pittsburgh Rich specializes in tropical marine fishes and invertebrates, including coral propagation.

Rich has traveled to the Bahamas, Florida and Hawaii to experience marine habitats first-hand. Along with Rick Klobuchar and Carrie Pratt, he is a co-author of the chapter on abiotic filtration in public aquaria in the upcoming Manual of Coral Husbandry in Public Aquaria. Rich is the creator of the FISHH (Fishes Ill-Suited for Home Hobbyists) card program, an effort to educate home hobbyists about commonly-sold fishes that grow too large for most home aquariums.
