Vote on food for the Christmas Party

Ok would everyone like to have peal and eat shrimp or ham for the Christmas party? Of course if anyone is allergic to shellfish it will be ham by default. If it's shrimp I'm cooking if it's ham Randy is:)
thanks, Chris

ct_vol 11/26/2007 06:15 PM

I'll vote for shrimp just so I don't have to cook... ;) lol

imsqueak 11/26/2007 09:15 PM

I'm hammed out. Drinking 2 glasses of water in my sleep since Thanksgiving.

Maybe I'll bring a Paella

TriMax 11/27/2007 07:14 AM

Ok

Ham looked so lonely, there with no votes. I like it much better than peal and eat, anyway. So, I voted for ham.

I cannot express to you how much I completely and totally despise ham. It's a sore spot for me, which I will describe to you folks in detail later on tonight, if you'd like.

With that said...I have no problem if ham is the main dish because I am perfectly fine to eat the many other things that will be there. I won't starve at all if there's ham there and a bunch of other stuff (there's always a ton of other food, ya know?). Seriously...no problem if we go with ham.

ct_vol 11/27/2007 11:59 AM

Are you Kosher Mel??? :D

EvilMel 11/27/2007 12:20 PM

Yeah...that's me...completely kosher. This bacon that I smothered my brussels sprouts in...completely kosher.

awcurl 11/27/2007 01:04 PM

I'll be there.

ct_vol 11/27/2007 02:17 PM

Bacon is good... Maybe we should have bacon platter... :)

EvilMel 11/27/2007 03:42 PM

My bacon/shallot covered brussels sprouts were a bit of a hit yesterday! Maybe I will make those.

I usually make that cranberry relish...when we have a traditional style Christmas dinner. Are we supposed to bring side dishes that are typical Xmasy-type stuff or are we just bringing whatever? I don't mind either way...I just wanted to know if I should stick with Holiday fare or if I could think outside the box a bit.

ct_vol 11/27/2007 05:54 PM

I wonder how appetizing Chase's cheese dip would be if he added red or green food coloring??? You know to keep with Christmas colors... ;)

Whatever you guys want to eat, I guess bring... Not sure if I'll eat many Brussel sprouts...

fishdoc11 11/27/2007 06:45 PM

Christmas ornaments sounds good to me....easy and cheap but still fun:)

I'm thinking bring whatever. I'm a little holiday fooded out at the moment and will be again around the end of the month....kinda why I was thinking shrimp but I'll eat anything. Bacon allways works:D

EvilMel 11/27/2007 09:57 PM

Ok so...I'm thinking outside the box then...past holiday-type of stuff!

Good...good...I can deal with it.

Runner 11/27/2007 11:48 PM

There is something I have that I need to pass off to someone since I won't make this year's Christmas party. ;)

ct_vol 11/28/2007 08:01 AM

Oh good... :D I was wondering who got it last year... ;)

EvilMel 11/28/2007 01:49 PM

I thought the Carberry's kept it.

Man...I think if you don't come to the xmas party then you don't get to pass it off. I think you ought to have to keep it.

Runner 11/28/2007 02:06 PM

My kids would love that. My wife might go nuts again having to put up with it, though.

imsqueak 11/28/2007 07:35 PM

You should keep it for another year if you dont go.

TriMax 12/03/2007 12:28 PM

So, not a regular Christmas type of meal, huh. I wonder what that means. I mean, how much would there have been to eat in an old run down stable.

Anyway, so my wife was asking, can I/we bring sweet potato casserole? We normally only ever have it during holiday meals. I can bring something else if it offends anybody.;)

Mel, are we going to eat out of boxes. I could bring some Styrofoam or paper plates.

There are only 8 votes for food. Are only 8 people coming?

Eddie (old fashion, traditional, boring)

fishdoc11 12/03/2007 01:39 PM

Bring whatever you like Eddie:)

I love Turkey, ham and the like.

I think some of us just get worn out on ham and turkey when we eat it every day for a week twice in a little longer than a month's time. My wife actually made Thanksgiving dinner for another family also so I got even more a week early:)

And just a FYI. I learned this year in Clinical Pathology it's not the tryptophan in turkey that makes you tired. We don't ingest nearly enough of that in one sitting to effect us.
It's actually a "post prandial alkaline tide" (a bunch of bicarbonate released into our blood as a result of a high protien meal) that gets you.

Chris

ct_vol 12/03/2007 03:45 PM

I think Eddie and Chase need to have a cheese off... ;) First vat empty wins... :D

Sorry...not buying it. I eat high protein all the time and don't experience...well...crap...hang on...maybe I do. Crap.

Eddie...do not taunt me with the sweet potatoes and then not deliver. I must have sweet potato casserole now that you've mentioned it.

It makes sense if you think about it. Parietal cells.....HCL goes one way, HCO3 goes the other way.

TriMax 12/04/2007 12:04 PM

Ok, so sweet potatoes casserole it is. Just for Mel, or,well, maybe, cause it is what Kathy suggested that I/we bring.

EvilMel 12/04/2007 12:29 PM

yay!
