Tom Skimmer overflow
 

Anyone familiar with these overflows? supposedly they're flood proof, in that in a power-out, when your pump restarts, the syphon automatically restarts also.
Im looking for a 'reasonably safe' overflow system as my tank is'nt drilled and is already up and running.

I take it from the lack of response that these are'nt popular?

There c-style overflows and need a pump to work properly. If you can't drill then use an utube overflow. Save your carpet.

So I'd be better off going with a LifeReef or something similar?

lifereef is the best, but you can spend much less an americle or a hurricane. I've used a hurricane for over 1.5yrs and never had an overflow or a loss syphon. And power has went out for longer than 8hrs with no problems.

I like the whole idea of the tom's filter overflow thingy with the auto top off and the skimmer. My probs with it are it should have had it with utube's you can auto start with a hand pump connected to the return line. The skimmer would have been atleast average and teh top off would have been 3-4 x as large as it is. If they did this and kept it at a nice price, they would sell tons.....but since its junk they won't.
