Anyone use Hardness Plus as CA Supplement??

Ok, found this stuff at the pool supply place. Called Hardness Plus....have not found an MSDS on it yet, and have not looked at the label in person. Seems as i read somewhere here that some had used it without a problem, but i cannot find that info at the moment. We have no snow here so i cannot get ahold of the Dow Flake locally.....looking for a local source of CA to split with friends. Next step is to order the stuff and pay the freight. Any info is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Unless the product can be traced back to the old Dow Flake or perhaps a Tetra product, there's no way to know whether it's safe to use or not without a lot of expensive testing.

I use Alk Plus and Hardness Plus, 2-part dosing. I have had GREAT success in 4 different tanks. I've never had a problem fine tuning the delicate balance between alk and calcium.

Disclaimer! If you use it and mess up your system it was your fault for not using the stuff you found at your LFS or e-tailer.

I use the stuff I got from Leslie Pool Supply named Hardness plus and I also use the Soda Ash. It has worked great for me for almost a year in all five of my tanks.

Its just Calcium chloride. 'Kent Turbo Calcium' in a different package. The Soda ash is the same stuff you find labeled as 'Superbuffer DKH'.

And you cant beat the price!

Both products are made by Natureef.

Thanks a Bunch!!!

Great, i will go take a look. We have a Leslie pool supply and a Warehouse pool supply locally. I bought a little of the Dow flake from our LFS but he charges 10 bucks for 1.2lbs. So, as you can see, it is not cheap this way. Would order it but i am into instant gratification. Plus i should have a CA reactor within the next couple of months so i dont want to expend a ton of cash to just sit here after.

Any other info or mixing info you guys use would be great....do you mix in the same ratio's as the recipe uses.

Thanks,
Graydon
