Just got a Deltec MCE600 and...

...it's awesome! I bought it used off of ebay and received it last night. This is the first "high end" skimmer I have ever purchased and I am very impressed with the design, durability, and function.

Thanks for reading, I just wanted to share my experience.

i cant wait to buy mine!!!!

Flint&Eric 12/21/2007 08:12 PM

they are great little skimmers! ours is still going strong.

Here is my old mce600. Best hang I ever used. Kind of nice of running a hang on skimmer that only uses 10 watts of power while producing 400 LPH of air!!

Congrats. The skimmer is a hang-on beast. I wouldnt do it any other way! Best HOB skimmer available for build quality/performance.

luke33 12/21/2007 11:53 PM

What a bold statement. The rogue will do 35scfh as well as the turbo 3000 blue. That would be twice as much air as the mce600 and the rogue is 150 less......The new ATB will do 400lph at 10w and will out soon. Since its a cone its suposedly waaay better. lol

sjm817 12/21/2007 11:57 PM

Good luck with it. Hope it works well for you.

luke33 12/22/2007 12:07 AM

sjm, whatever do you mean? ; )

s3aL 12/22/2007 12:36 AM

I always see the same haters who jump into Deltec MCE600 threads .

Very bold statement, and I stand by it ;) .

luke33 12/22/2007 12:49 AM

I never said the mce 600 wasn't a good skimmer, as its nice imo, but underpowered for larger than a 75g tank. SJM, which i completely respect his opinion thinks other. There are quite a few mce600 haters out there. Name one rogue hater that has used one out there? As the BEST, i'd differ completely.

s3aL 12/22/2007 01:02 AM

Thank god for opinions :) .

luke33 12/22/2007 01:04 AM

I hear ya man ; ) I hope you don't think i'm callin your skimmer junk, far from.

hybridgenius 12/22/2007 03:37 PM

I wouldnt say its the BEST either, but its up there as to TRUE SKIMMING lol. Plus, opinions are only so much... these skimmers have specs and thats what seperates opinions from facts. I'd agree with Luke about the rogue and turbo 3000 being the better of skimmers, but thats not saying the mce600 sucks at all.

Flint&Eric 12/22/2007 05:13 PM

luke show me a successful tank running the rogue...there are maybe three using them? with yourself using a 900+gph pump....different strokes for different folks, the mce is the only real performing skimmer with the pump outside of the tank. name one mce hater that actually used and owned one?

sjm doesnt like the skimmer because his friends kept overflowing? fair enough, there was a faulty skimmer in the bunch.

i've yet to see a true sludge shot of the rogue, and i've yet to hear of anyone using the aqua medic...and at it's price point i dont foresee too many users.

i'll take the mce600 over rogue or turbo blue each time, but again...that's just me ;)

GPCRalph 12/23/2007 11:08 AM

Woops! Haha. I didn't mean to open a touchy subject. But it's neat reading your discussion.

Thanks for passing-by,

Rafael

Sure the mce600 is nice, like I stated before, but it can't hang with skimmate production from a larger tank like the rogue. No questions about it. Its not as good a skimmer, and for the price, no way would i spend the extra 150bux. There are many users of the rogue on here. Check out the rogue threads and the bermuda sponsor threads. 17scfh to over 30.....not really a contest there, but yes, your pump is not in the tank.

Flint&Eric 12/24/2007 12:35 AM

truth be told, you shouldnt be using a hang on for anything over ~60g  and like we said before, the air volume does not take into account bubble size. it's comparing apples to oranges...but at the end of the day both can perform.

luke are you trying the ATB?

luke33 12/24/2007 12:42 AM

Na man, wasn't trying to be offensive either...you were just callin out my rogue warrior ; ) But like i've said many a times, the rogue, mce600, turbo seem to be the only hot's out there that can take over a 55g tank. Although it seems there will be two more out there soon that can do the same. The ATB and the hot recirc octo. Time will tell with those two and at this point only the rogue and mce600 have been tested. I'm not going to buy a atb or a octo recirc as i have no need for either. I will be getting an octo to test here soon and i'll post my thoughts. I'll be looking forward to seeing what an atb will do as well. I know its 400lph at 10 watts which is awesome and it should work well for 55g tanks and under. It will come with a heafty 500 dollar price tag though. I mean really, who wants to spend that kind of cash on a hot. If you spend more than 250-300bux, just get a sump and a insump skimmer imo.

hybridgenius 12/25/2007 03:25 AM

Heres a pic for ya. Thats within 6HRS... the thing can get pretty nasty if I didnt clean it so often. I know a few people with the mce600 and they would trade for a rogue anyday if it werent too late. Not saying deltec is bad, but for the price and performance, the rogue takes it and thats fact, not an opinion.
