Recognizing Flukes??
What am I looking for? I have an orange shoulder tang that has black splotches on one side. He is eating well and am currently in the process of treating the tank w/hypo. Down to 1.013 now.
thanks |
Could be black ich...most often seen with yellow tangs. Either way, I would suggest a freshwater bath. Seems to do the trick with external worms.

Shouldn't the hypo cure black ick also?
How do I id flukes? Not sure what that is? thanks |
The only way I know of to get rid of black ich is a freshwater bath. I doubt you have flukes...a freshwater bath will take care of them...or a copper treatment. I would try the freshwater first...less stressful.

Let me clarify, I'm sorry I did not do so before, black is is not ich. Black ich is caused by worms. You can google black ich and you will get plenty. Worms can survive hypo. The only skin flukes I have seen are clear, a little harder to detect unless there is a serious infestation. They can survive hypo.

PraziPro works great for flukes.
A Formalin bath is another option. |
Thanks, doesn't sound like that is what the orange shoulder has. I'm still not sure how to id flukes though?

Well, could you post a picture of your fish?
