Posted this is the wrong forum, so I was told to repost here.

I think my PBT has black ick. I have never heard of that before until I started researching this. Apparently it's a tube work that appears on the fish for about 5 days then drops off to multiply into the sand bed, then comes back stronger.

Suggestions for treatment include a freshwater dip and qt.

Anyone have any experience with this? As of right now, I think he's only had it on him less then 24 hours and he is still eating, though he is now hiding and paler.

Any help would be great.

Thanks.

Do you have the fish in quarantine? Resistance to FW dips can vary, but I would try that first. Use the same temperature and pH. A couple of weeks in hyposalinity may work as well. If neither works then resort to a series of formalin dips. Tangs can be sensitive to formalin.

Thanks Terry. I tried a FW dip tonight. I'll see how he does tomorrow.

Do the black spots look like pepper on the skin, or could the black spots be under the skin?

On the skin.. they seem to be moving.. so I am pretty sure it's the black ick. I did the fw dip and since then his persona has changed for the better, a lot more active. When the lights come on i'll look him over good and update.

Thanks! :)
