will it harm the fish if i add them to cloudy water?

the sand hasnt completley settled, so would it hurt them?

wsamsky 01/10/2008 10:53 PM

cloudy water shouldnt harm your fish.

Deb91 01/10/2008 10:54 PM

Never mind the sand. Did your tank completely cycle yet? what are your parms.?

msu spartan 01/10/2008 10:56 PM

yea its new sand, but its playsand, good kind
and the water is from my 5.5 and new saltwater

Deb91 01/10/2008 11:08 PM

So it didn't finish cycling yet then? Can you explain more please. I am not trying to judge you or anything, I just don't want you to lose your fish.

msu spartan 01/10/2008 11:21 PM

i had my 5.5 for a month , wanted a lil bigger so i moved everything to the 10

Deb91 01/10/2008 11:29 PM

If you just put it in the 10 gal. tank with the sand and saltwater then it is not ready for fish. What did you have in the 5.5 gal.? What did you cycle it with, live rock, shrimp ect. Did you keep track of the cycle in the other tank?

Aside from the cycling issue, yes the dust in the water if it's dense may clog gills.

Can you please explain the history of this situation?
We are trying to give you advice, but your initial question, if answered, may not lead to the result you want. Please fill us in on all details, where fish came from, how long tanks are set up, how set up, and we may be able to suggest what to do.

I agree we need some more info. From what I've read so far, I would wait and test your water over the next couple days to be sure.
