what marine critter creeps you out to handle...
I'll admit it. Starfish. I don't know why. It's illogical. But they're prickly and weird. I'll manage with gloves, which is nicer for the starfish as well...but regular star or brittle star, they're just something I'd rather not touch. I think it's because they're like furniture that comes to life when you touch it.

I saw a picture of a sea spider that had to have been around 8" across from the tips of the legs. It was here on RC, I think somebody pulled it out of their tank...I showed the picture to my wife, and she told me that if I ever had anything like that in my tank, either the tank was leaving or she was. I agreed. There's no way in hell I would handle that thing. :D

either a crab like a sally lightfoot, or a medusa worm
I don't like to handle fish!
grabbing shrimp freaks me out, esp if they have claws
decorator crab, the spider variety
my tigertail cucumber...I always think those spikes are hard!
x2 on the brittle star..i have one about 7" big and it still creeps me out
lol glad i'm not the only one freaked out by brittle stars. they're just so creepy! all my friends tell me i'm being a baby about it, but they just give me the heebie jeebies. when i worked at an lfs, i would go get someone else to grab it if a customer wanted one. either that or i would try the two-net-scoop routine.

You are all a bunch of wimps.
*takes 10 minutes to move an emerald crap from bucket to tank because he is scared of it* |
urchins, medusa worms (feels weird)
I won't touch brittle stars ether.
sally lightfoot crabs are creepy. too spider-like for me.
I pretty much hate handling anything creepy-crawly, squirmy, or that has tentacles. Crabs, shrimp, starfish, even nassarius snails. And especially stuff like eels and octopi. *shivers* Yeah, I'm a big baby. So what? Ya wanna fight about it..? HUH?! :)

Anenomes. I helped a friend move a 160 and i reached in a picked up a big one he had. Wow that hurt. Never do that again.

Ill handle anemones by hand, and almost any coral... but I have a big list...
-Ive always been a little bit phobic of anything crustacea... wont eat them either. Shrimp, Crabs, lobster... I refuse to touch them without a stick or grabber. I wont even touch their molted shells (I pick them out with tongs). Horseshoes just creep me the heck out... I dont care that you can pick them up from their big shell and avoid the creepy underbelly... those things are just plain alien. No problem with clams, snails, or even octos/squid though... just the roaches that live in the sea. -I will touch a starfish if I have to, but usually not. -Urchins... dont know why, but never had a problem handling them. -I wont touch dead fish unless it just died. A floating carcass... heck no. -Try handling a feather worm that has fallen out of its 'sleeve'... its a bit disturbing, but almost the same as an earthworm. Those sand worms though... I wont touch them. |
ummmm......probably bristle worms. the spikes don't bother my hands if i don't rub them but i've grabbed some huge ones (8-10 inch) and that hurt like @^$&%

Oh man...your missing out...shhh, don't tell my cleanup crew. |
Anything with claws for me, even though it doesn't hurt much, I'm still a wuss.
I can hold them if they go on my hand, but I can't directly pick them up. |
Anemones have always freaked me out a bit. Weird and sticky (shiver). I gotta use gloves if I'm moving a new nem into my tank.
Urchins mostly, nothing else freaks me out. I get creeped out by dead fish though and usually have my husband take them out of the tank for me. I can't do it even with a really long net. Yeah, I know, it's weird.
Nothing in particular, I even loved when I had my skunk cleaner shrimp and they would clean my hands. Although my urchin does tend to sneak up on me sometimes with his little spikes .
Live Rock!! One too many times I have reached in to move a rock around, or rearrange something I don't like, and it seems more times than not I end up with something wierd on my hands. I don't know if it's bristle worms, or vermetid snails, or whatever. I always end up with a cut, or a scratch, or a burn, or a rash... No more moving rocks without gloves!!
I'm not afraid or creeped out of anything in my tank or when i go to the shore. I'll stick my hand into an unknown cave although I must admit now that i'm wiser(after reaching into a hole at the shore and pulling out a lobster) i use more caution. the one this the MAKES my skin crawl is reaching into dirty dishwater !urrrrrrrrgh i just cant do it
