AEFW is there a %100 way to be rid of them?
A year ago I came down with AEFW. Immediately I pulled all the acros and put them in QT. I dipped weekly for a month in a bit over reccomended strength TMPCC. After a month there was no sign and I reintroduced the corals to my main tank. I saw no sign of AEFW for nearly a year. Over that time I introduced NOTHING to my tank.
I am willing to give it one more shot. What should I do to be rid of these once and for all? Thanks, -Ken |
Oh, not you Kroe. Umm, were working on it but not %100 fool proof yet. There are some new methods out there.

Despite the negative critics, I suggested freshwater dips back in the day and have used them ever since without killing a single acro. Bring RO water to tank temp, dip coral for 50 secs (must be exact) and then shake in water the last 10. Works great...flatworms turn a white color and fall off. If abused, im sure it can kill acro, but it hasn't failed me yet and I have dipped a ton of them.

figiblue - Do you adjust the RO water for pH?
|
so what happens to the eggs in these FW dips fijiblue??
do you QT your corals before introducing them or just dip?? |
Bump !!!

Im kinda liking the studies on the potassium permaganate. Last check, its working on the eggs too and with little effect to the coral if done right.

No, I do not...temp only.
so what happens to the eggs in these FW dips fijiblue??do you QT your corals before introducing them or just dip??
There are no eggs because smart reefers scrap them off first:) |

Well its lethal stuff i hear that they use mainly in pool supplies and such but they have been testing it with afw and nudis. Its got promise i hear.
