So who really has more HD channels

Ok, Ok. Everytime I turn on the TV, I am constantly seeing 2 commericals, Both Dish and Comcast Cable are Advertising they have the most HD channels available. But That simply cant be true. I honestly dont care who has more, I just came here to vent about how stupid modern commercials and competitions can be. :mixed:

Rock Anemone 01/09/2008 09:45 PM

Why can't we just have one basic TV system. It's all too ridiculous now. :(

Scuba_Dave 01/09/2008 09:48 PM

Now where is the profit in that?

Well not HD only, it will be digital only. :)

actually, it gets technical: certain Comcast channels advertise they have HD, but unless the transmission arrives in HD, no HD...
THere's also more than one level of HD. There's HD that's just slightly nicer with a decent non-stretch widescreen; and then there's a really high frame rate that takes a lot of band width, that is reach-out-and-touch-it kind of image.

We don't get much of the latter with Comcast. I'm suspecting you get more of it via dish, because I don't think the bandwidth is as constrained...just a guess.

It's all about making the consumer think they're getting "the best" even if they're not.

We're pretty happy with Dish, and get quite a lot of HD stuff.

I have dish and love it. There are enough HD channels to make you happy.

LOL, I'm guessing it's what you want to watch in HD too. Seems to be plenty of HD channels on DTV also. We've been rewatching blue planet since we got it, it's pretty awesome.

Verizon FIOS TV has lots of HD.
