175 w to 250 w

Hi All,

I just switched a ballast and bulb from a 175 tar ballast to a 250 w electronic ballast. I have been told there is no issue with this. I noticed the wire above the pendant and the pendant itself much hotter than the 175 s. Normal??? In other words the bulb and the ballast are new the wire and the pentant fixture is old

Thanks

Joe

sorry I was not clear .the new bulb and the new ballast are both 250 w. The ballast is ARO electronic metal halide ballast and the bulb is a 250 w XM 10k bulb

My 250 gets quite hot. You are inherently going to have more heat with the increased wattage.. I don't know what standard rating is for the pendants.. mine has a sticker that says rated for 6KV and HID purpose only. hope this helps..
