nassarius snails...should I add 'em?

Hello,

I have about 100 or so snails (astrea/turbo's) but don't have any nassarius snails. For sand sifting I have 4 Tiger Tail cucs and 4 small starfish my a 300g reef. I was thinking about getting 50 or so of these guys just to keep the sand bed stirred up.

What does everyone think about these little guys.?

I like them. They do a good job keeping my sandbed stirred and clean. My kids like feeding time cause they shoot out like little subs.

If you have a DSB, these are great. They are really cool to watch too.

May I also suggest Cerith snails. They eat algae on the rocks and sand, eat detritus and left over food, stir up the sand bed, and even have been known to eat cyano. If you have hermit crabs, the ceriths might not last long because their shell is prime realestate.

a couple of things to suggest......the 100 turbos/astreas not the best idea IMO....i had about 30 of them in my 165 when they died off they cause cyno and major problems in my tank and i have 1 left now. About your sand bed i would try a sand sifting goby and sand siftting star fish( thats what i have in my tank and they work great)

From what I've heard, sand sifting stars can wipe out a sand bed in no time.

I have nassarius and like them.
