Anyone looking to upgrade tank size?

I have my 170 acrylic tank for sale. I would consider a trade for a nice smaller aquarium. I would prefer a cube or a wider tank with a finished stand and canopy.
Here is a pic, tank has a lot of corraline on it but it is super sharp cleaned up.

How do you get the coraline off of the acrylic?

ahenson 05/11/2007 09:36 PM

With a plastic scraper or after it's torn down a weak mix of muriatic acid. I just haven't kept up on maintenance, and want to sell it or get something smaller.

How much smaller?

Mojo Jojo 05/11/2007 09:47 PM

Are you looking to trade off set-ups? Nice tank for the person who picks it up:D

Jennifer61577 05/11/2007 09:47 PM

How far are you from Chicago?

ahenson 05/11/2007 09:48 PM

I'd prefer a cube or a 75, I don't want anything narrow like a 55
I had a small 29g Oceanic cube and I liked it but I want something bigger. I have three halide retros so I want the canopy so I don't have to buy a light fixture.
What do you have?

90gl. AGA RR tank... With a canope that can take a halide

90gl. AGA RR tank... With a canope that can take a halide... Not a fair trade I'm afraid... :(

ahenson 05/11/2007 09:50 PM

I'm in Covington IN 47932
I'd say 3 hours south. It is a Tenecor RR acrylic tank

What does your tank look like? What are the dimensions. Do you have a pic of the stand and setup? To me a fair trade is where both of us are happy.

Jennifer61577 05/11/2007 09:54 PM

IN.. 3 hrs. south of Chicago?

Mainly the tanks, most of my equipment was sold. I plan on going skimmerless with a large refugium.

I am 45 minutes east of Champaign if that helps. At the intersection of I74 and rt63

Jennifer61577 05/11/2007 10:13 PM

Would you be at all interested in my tank? How much more would you want for yours?

ahenson 05/11/2007 10:18 PM

Ya I'm interested, it depends on how good the stand and canopy look. I want something that can go in the family room and look good. I have a sea swirl I could add as it goes well with the tank. If I wanted anything it would be live rock. I'm just trying to trade and not spend much to set up the new tank.

Well the stand and canope are in excellent shape... Kind of a maple wood... I have mine as a piece of furniture as well, so I know that you mean... I have 175lbs LR in it and it looks great... What about the light... I just got my custom Aquactnics MH/T5 combo on Monday...

And as of last week when I found this forum I realized I knew nothing...

The more you learn, the more you realize how little you know....In my case anyway. :)

ahenson 05/11/2007 10:27 PM

I have 3 electronic ballast 250w halide retros 12k. I prefered to keep them, are you wanting to trade lighting as well?

ahenson 05/11/2007 10:33 PM

A sea swirl has a rotating motor so that you water return hooks into it and it rotates 180 degrees giving your tank more random water movement. I think they sell for mid 100s new maybe $75 used

Jennifer61577 05/11/2007 10:39 PM

Wow... That sounds neat... How the heck would this even work? LOL...

Jennifer61577 05/11/2007 10:39 PM

Wow... That sounds neat... How the heck would this even work? LOL... I mean the tank swapping?

ahenson 05/11/2007 10:47 PM

We'd have to tear down at the same time. Put everything in rubbermaid tubs or whatever for the time being. Hopefully have some circulation going.
Then tear down the tank and swap. I'd prefer not to do the driving as I'm losing out a little value wise trading. My tank will fit in the back of a minivan without the two rear seats, but it's really tight.

Jennifer61577 05/11/2007 10:57 PM

That would be the tank... And not the stand correct? Hummm... Why do you want smaller... LOL... I thought everyone wanted bigger...
