There are some good ones out there, but I'm not sure where. Spazz had a pretty awesome Dart driven one a while back. I bet if you PM Hahnmeister, he could point you in the right direction...

I saw a DIY quite a while back where a guy used a plastic 55 gal drum!

It shouldn't be hard to find. What was cool about that idea is, obviously a drum is plenty big, but you could use the lid of the drum to fasten a cone and your collection cup.

You could use just about anything to construct a skimmer but you'll likely find that a drum would be cheaper:

Since they make different size drums you could make any of those sizes.

How much are you looking to spend? IMO your going to need 3500lph air imo or around 125scfh. The laguna 2400 sounds like the perfect pump for you or even a larger laguna would be great. If your looking cheap, then a laguna with one of those drum's above would work well. Personally i'd go with a 24" tall x 12" reaction chamber with a 8" neck thats 6" in length. Bubble plate at the bottom thats 8" diameter and 3.5" tall, 2" diameter output with a gate valve. So 30" tall total. Would be a great skimmer. Or you could use three sicce 2500's and get around 140-150scfh, there's tons of skimmers out there. I'd suggest to first find out what its going to cost you in materials then see if its worth it. IMO it will be best to DIY.

I can give you the step by step instructions for building a skimmer that handles up to 500g, and it wont cost you more than 20$ + pump. it takes less than one hour to build.

I will be building a 265g display soon so don't hold out on us. I would like to see it also.

Skyhigh, i would love to see that step by step

I don't know what my budget is. At this stage I don't even really have a grasp on what a manufactured skimmer for this volume would run.

also Why would you recomend a 24" tall reaction chamber I've been reading and picked up that taller is better.
