Anyone knows if Brine Shrimp Egg can expire

Is there a time limit on brine shrimp eggs.
I have some for a long time now and I want to use them.

Thanks

Yes, I think a year or two might be the max, if they're stored in a freezer. BrineShrimpDirect.com and Florida Aqua Farms might have more information.

They live for decades. Brine Shrimp cysts are amazing, it can rain someplace that hasn't rained in years, dry river bed, and you can find brine shrimp in ponds. I would say the hatch rate drops over time though.

All the info i have ever heard about brine cysts is that as long as they are not exposed to moisture they will have a 95% hatch rate. But once exposed the hatch rate drop dramatically.

Keep them dry until you want them to hatch:rollface:

IMO, just ditch them. I'm sure they'll last a long, long time in perfect storage, but most of our homes and freezers don't qualify.

Biggest problem is stores that keep them on a shelf at room temperature.
Hatchout rates depend on the quality of the cyst to start with. They are not all 95% hatchouts at the beginning.
I keep my cysts in the refrigerator as recommended by BRINE SHRIMP DIRECT where I purchase them from. Those cysts with the best hatchout rates cost more but they are worth the difference.
It helps to keep those humidity packs stored inside the container with the cysts.
