need fish experts-stocking 200g
 

i have a list of fishes in mind to stock my new 200 gal full sps/clam tank, but not sure if it's going to work, so i need some fish experts here.
it'll be put it in in the order.

1st. lawnmower - as big as i can find
2nd. achilles tang- 6" or bigger
3rd. black tang- mid size maybe 4" +
4th. mystery wrasse - biggest i can find
5th. leopard wrasse - biggest i can find
6th. sohal tang -4-6"
7th. male crosshatch!!! 7" maybe

maybe a 4-5" regal angel since i always want one.

do u guys think this list with the order and size would work ? would i still be able to keep some small fish such as anthias?

i also thought about make it an agressive reef tank cuz i really want to keep some mid size wrasses such as bird and lunare ...etc

With the sohal I would look for a smaller one. They grow fast and big. He will eventually outgrow a 200 gallon tank. If you want a regal angel, put it in before any of the tangs just to be sure you can get it eating without it having to compete with them. JMO

i really don't care about if they will outgrow or not, since i have enough time to save money for next upgrade. the only thing i'm looking at would be the aggression between each other.

in regards to the achilles tang, I wish you luck...
they have always been huge ich magnets for me :sad2:

yah, i thought about achilles is hard to keep, especially with the dark color, you can see ever little white spot...that's the only reason i want to get a bigger one, should be alot easiler to keep than a small one.

so you guys think this will be fine ? and regal angel first ?

I have no personal experience w/ triggers, but I'm thinking the wrasses you have chosen are a bit on the docile side and a crosshatch trigger may eventually look at them as food? I think the anthias may be subjected to harm as well.

I could be wrong.

I believe that all the fish on the list would get along fine, and I see no problem in the order in which you are to add them to your tank :thumbsup:

I apologize if it seems as though I have something against triggers, as I said before I have no personal experience with them, and I can only speak of some of the things I've heard about triggers in general.

I just reminded myself that the crosshatch is one of the few triggers that are planktivores... even w/ that in mind, I just don't know?!

A large nasso is pretty cool if you wanted an alternate choice. A dwarf lion would be pretty sweet if you can get one that will eat frozen foods.

And a large shoal of something, cromis or some bartletts perhaps.

well, crosshatch is a must for me, cuz that's the only reason that i upgraded to this 200gal haha..and yah i was worry about other smaller fish could be the great expansive food for cross, but i have seem a 8" cross in a 300gal reef with alot more fishes and pipe fishes, so far they doing good and peaceful, so i guess i'll still give it a try.

ide pick the crosshatch or sohal. the both get big, fast swimmers. and the Sohal is actually much meaner.

With the achilles - get it small. they adapt better at smaller sizes (eating and acclimating)

For the tangs, get them small so you have time for them to grow. Dont get big fish right away...

the only reason that i'm getting some mid-large size is because the corss hatch will be a large fish for sure. so you do'nt think it'll be a problem for other fish in small sizes?

no, the crosshatch will be fine with small fish. Its when you get a "pair" and they want to do some mating dances with the males get violent and eat small fish. I would still pick either the cross or sohal. Small tangs and fish will be fine :)

a pair you mean male/female, and they only get aggresive when they want to mate ?

what you saying is that the cross can't get along with sohal or just cuz both can be pretty big ? it won't be a problem if i have to start with a smaller size sohal tho.

a male and female will eventually want to mate or atleast do the spiral dance. In this case males usually get very very territorial and will attack fish that come close, and even eat any fish newly added.

I say pick one because sohals are extremely fast growers and they are much meaner then any fish you listed. They will probably reak more havok then the cross. Its your choice in the end, but that is just MO :)

thankx for your sugguestion...somehow i always want a sohal, and never have chance to own one..so what about clown tang compare to sohal ?

clown tangs are pretty much the same tempered as sohal but are also ich magnets. a 2-3" sohal will work for a while. If you really are going to upgrade, then it shouldn't be a problem for a little while. However, a 2-3" sohal is hard to come by now adays. Not to much red sea fish are coming in at the moment.

its a pretty crappy fish list...dont get me wrong awesome fish but poor compatability and your tank is not large enough to support them

clown tangs... great looking fish! crappy survivability rate...
I'm not sure that I've heard of any "real" (more than a year people) success stories w/ this fish...

that could probably be the reason why such a colorful fish sells at 10x less than a sohal :bum:
